libcdk.so.5 problem

Artur Maj
Hi Marcus,

I am running Ubuntu x64 14.04.
This is my problem:

artur@dellubu:~$ gphoto2 --capture-image
gphoto2: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libcdk.so.5: invalid ELF header

This is how my libcdk.so.5 looks like:

artur@dellubu:~$ ls -l /usr/lib/libcdk*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     13 May  1  2011 /usr/lib/libcdk.so.5 -> libcdk.so.5.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 272960 May  1  2011 /usr/lib/libcdk.so.5.0

Any ideas.

Best Regards.

Artur Maj

So far I have not heard about this problem, with the number of Ubuntu
users might make it a problem specific to your installation.

In general this looks good, if this the gphoto2 supplied by Ubuntu.

Can you try reinstalling the packages that contain gphoto2 and libcdk5?

Ciao, Marcus

The file looks identical to what I have here. But as Marcus, I suspect
your file has been correupted:

mysystem:~> md5sum /usr/lib/libcdk.so.5.0
b08da0411f64975fb9c68a540baa465c  /usr/lib/libcdk.so.5.0
mysystem:~>

If yours is different, I would find it interesting to see what
the actual differences are, so I would suggest you make a backup
before you deinstall / reinstall libcdk5 .

(apt-get remove libcdk5 ; apt-get install libcdk5 )

The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike
Phil, this plan just might work.
