Summary: downloading data via PTP requires huge amounts of memory

Initial Comment:
downloading a 243mb video clip via PTP from a Canon S1
IS causes gphoto2 v2.1.3 to consume roughly the same
amount of RAM - about 245mb. haven't tested with 2.1.4,
but release notes do not mention such a problem.

the patch you mentioned wont help, it just fixes reduces stored
images.  
 
this one is for directly downloading to disk instead of caching in
ram.

this is because we cache the whole image/movie in RAM currently.
 
Delayed write out is not yet supported.
