Liveview on EOS1300D

Allimania
Hello together,

i have a simple question an hope someone can answer. I have gphoto running on a raspberry pi connected to a EOS1300D. Capturing and downloading images works nice but i have a screen attatched to the camera and as soon as i take a photo trough gphoto the camera "resets" an I only see the options not the live-picture. Is there any possibility to keep the camera in the "livemode"

Best regards
Marco

Marco,

Did you try the following command?
        gphoto2 --wait-event-and-download=1000s —keep

Thanks

Do you mean it shows the liveview before and as you run gphoto2 it goes away?

In theory it should go back to the state before :/

if it only stay while gphoto2 is running, you can use event polling, like
royord suggests.

You can also check the evfmode variable, setting it to 0 or 1 ?

Ciao, Marcus

Re: Liveview on EOS1300D

Thank you for your really quick reply. The problem is, I use the raspberry to trigger a capturing, so the camera is untouched. The camera starts in the, i call it "option mode" now, i can manually set it into the "live mode" if I then use gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download it captures the image but goes back into the "option mode".

The background is, we bulit a photo box with a button wich triggers a script on the raspberry. This script calls gphoto to capture the image and it processes it further for exaplte to resize and print it. There is no difference, wether I use the script or call "gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download" directly from the command line.

Can you tell me something about the evfmode variable, where to change it and what it will change?

Best regards
Marco

Re: Liveview on EOS1300D

I tried to change the evfmode parameter but without success. If I enable it, it has the same problem, if i capture a photo by gphoto it "resets" the camera and you can see the "option view". I also tired the "wait-event" parameter, this works, but then I need to trigger the photo on the camera itself and this is not possible in my scenario.

Anyone who has an idea?

Best regards
Marco

What exact commands are you running? I'd like to test with my local setup.

Re: Liveview on EOS1300D

For testing I'm running the following workflow (to net get disturbed, by some other things):

1. Camera and Raspi are running, camera is in portrait mode
2. Manual set the camera to live mode
3. run "gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download"
4. Picture is taken -> screen gets black (as expected)
5. Liveview comes up again while Raspi is downloading the image
6. Raspberry finished execution of the command and screen goes back to "option view"

I also tried "gphoto2 --trigger-capture"

I made a short video to show you what happens. The camera is already in live mode and I'm running "gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download" from the command line.
